- A pin tail comb
- A paddle brush
- A denman brush
- Water
- Water bottle
- Silver sectioning clips
- Hair grips
- Hair tongs
There are 3 methods which we can use to create and achieve the finger waves hairstyle.
1st method - Create more structure finger waves using water
Directions:
- Brush through the hair with the paddle brush and make sure no tangles through the hair.
- Make the hair really wet by spraying water onto the hair with water bottle. Use a denman brush to brush through the hair.
- For this hairstyle, the hair must be really wet! In order to create the finger waves, spray a lot of water onto the hair first. After that, use the pin tail comb and put it on the place when you want to start the finger waves, place two fingers above the comb and then push the comb up. Then, when you release the comb from the hair, you will need to make the comb lies flat before removing it from the hair.
- After that, use your fingers to hold the shape and then use a denman brush and brush the hair underneath the waves you have just created in same direction. Then, continue to do the next finger waves until you finished the whole head.
- Then, after the hair is all dried, you can remove the sectioning clips.
To improve next time, I can leave the sectioning clips longer to secure the hair and so the waves will be more define.
2nd method - Create a softer waves using water
Directions:- Make the hair really wet by spraying water onto the hair with water bottle. Use a denman brush to brush through the hair.
- After that, place your finger parallel to the direction where you want to put the waves.Use a pin tail comb and place it under your finger and then push the hair with the comb to the left. After that, use your finger to hold the hair and then use a denman brush to brush the hair in opposite direction under your finger where you are holding the shape. Use a sectioning clip to secure the shape. After you have brushed in opposite direction, leave some space between the shape you just created and use your finger to hold the hair. Then, brush the hair below your finger in opposite direction.
- Continue with the process until you have done the whole head.
- Remove the clips when the hair is dried.
3rd method - Create finger waves with hair tongs
Directions:- First, section the hair into center parting or side parting. Divide the hair into front and back section as well. On above, I have tried the waves in one section to see how it looks like.
- For the back section, you will need to do the brick works and for the front, curl the hair follow the direction of the fringe. In this lesson, I have created a few curls and then secure it with hair grips.
- After the curls are cool down, remove the hair grips from the hair. Brush the hair with the denman brush on top and also below the hair. Finally, you can see the shape of the finger waves.
To improve next time, I can make the curls tighter as on above is a bit loose. If I make the curls tighter, the waves will be seen more clearly and define.
