Advertisement Look 1 Idea for the day look shoot, moodboard, style, make-up and hair designs

Idea:
African Tribal Makeup inspired

For my day look advertisement image, I have decided to use African tribal make-up as inspirations for my eyeliner advertisement.As the product name of this shoot is Modern Twist Kajal Liner, I want to create a modern version of a specific cultural makeup as M.A.C considers other people cultures in their designs works as well. On below, I have researched about the African Tribal Make-up.

More about Tribes's make-up - 
An interesting thing about the tribes is that they change their look everyday. There is no system of how they need to paint their face and they never repeat the same look. They usually paint the face by fingers and if they draw dots or spots, they will have a sharpened piece of reed for them to use. Some of the face paintings feature strong contrast of colors and the dots make-up reminds me of Andy Warhol's paintings. Heads are nearly shaven completely and they use a lot of decorations and accessories on their heads and body. Some of the patterns link to the idea of symmetry as well as both side balance and look the same. A lot of their designs feature line and dots and I like how they use geometric shapes on their make-up as well and they look creative and delicate. They use bright colors such as bright yellows, white, rich earth reds, etc which makes the patterns stand out from their skin tones.  

On below, I have researched different traditional tribes make-up, so to get some inspirations for my make-up design.

The paint they use as the pigments on their face comes from powdered stone and they uses the elements from the natural environment.

The use of bright colors on the face and the use of lines and dots also related to the tribes make-up. The idea of symmetry patterns on the face links to the tribes make-up looks as well. The bright blue color gives a modern touch to the look.

Kirrily Johnston - RAFW 2010

The make-up look took inspirations from the tribes make-up in Kirrly Johnston and it is a futuristic tribal inspired make-up look. The use of the patterns on the face and body, the white color and red links to the tribes make-up.

Mood board:

For my advertisement day look, I have created a mood board to gather research and ideas for my hair and makeup look. I have included the Modern Twist Kajal Eyeliner #Polar White which is the product I going to use on my designs. On the top left is a photo which shows how I want the model to show the shoulders in the shoot or a strapless top. The photo also gives me inspirations for the pose as well. For the make-up, I have included a soft neutral lips, matte skin next to the photo of the lips, a modern version of the tribal makeup (using lines and dots) and also the background. For the hairstyle, I am thinking to do a simple and clean hairstyle, like low ponytail, etc as I want to make the focus on the eyeliner on the eyes because it is an eyeliner advertisement.

M.A.C Technakohl liner advertisement 

On above, I have looked at other brands eyeliner advertisement and also M.A.C's eyeliner advertisement and I like the way the models don't wear a top and leave their shoulder out which makes the image focuses on the eyeliners. For my shoot, therefore, I will take some shoots of the model with this style and also some head and shoulder shots as well.

Make-up Designs -

Design 1:

On design 1, the make-up look is inspired by one of the tribes make-up as the use of bold white color cat eyes look. I have used a peachy color lips to reflect to the spring and summer look.

Design 2:
For design 2, I have used the ideas of how the tribes make-up features lines and dots on the face and body. I have created two eyeliner flicks, one on the lid and one close to the upper lash line. I have also used three dotted patterns underneath the lower lash line and also three in between the flicks on both sides as well.

Design 3:

For design 3, I am inspired by the tribes make-up as sometimes they use shapes like triangle and also I have combined with the way they use dots on their face and body as well. Three dots are placed on the side of the triangle shape on the lids (outer V area).

Hair Designs -

Design 1:
For my design 1, I have decided to do a clean side parting, leaving the hair straight and clean. Also I want to do three 3 french braids on the side of the head to give a stylish and chic look which fits in M.A.C's style. The hair will be straighten and sleek.

Design 2:
For design 2, I want to make the hair sleek and tidy. A side parting will be used with a low ponytail at the back. The hair will be straight as well.

Design 3;
For design 3, I want to sleek back all the hair and no fringe will be on the design. It features straight hairstyle.

Because my model has got very thick and hard hair and I want to use a simple hairstyle as I want to focus on more the eyeliner. I think the low ponytail works with the make-up design very well as it looks simple, elegant and delicate.
