Missoni's collection features African tribal style, the striped, ripple line waves and the zigzag patterns combine with ethnic patterns gives a casual, relaxing, summery and a holiday mood. The crepon, knits, cannete, openwork and silk fabrics works together very well and helps to bring the cosy atmosphere. Some of the models wore Converse with Missoni's garments which creates a chic look and also link to high street fashion which I think Missoni wants to make connections with a wider audience and our everyday lives. Some of the models wear sandals and they feature very flat bottoms and two toned stripes.
Missoni has used a range of shades in this collection such as pink, grey, black, yellow, orange lilac, etc. There are several cuttings going on from the garments in this collection such as the wide leg cuttings, tailored trousers, long and knee length dresses with A-line or straight cuttings.
The make-up look is designed by the makeup artist Lucia Pieroni and M.A.C Cosmetics. The crayon hues on the eyelids is very iconic on this look and it gives a sporty mood but also links to the tribal theme on Missoni's collection as the bright colors are painted by fingers. The messy application on the lid and also bright color on the lid are the 2016 spring and summer trends. From the photos on above, you can see blue hues being used and it is one of the biggest trend in 2016 S/S as well. The make-up look catches my eyes when I'm looking at inspirations for my project and it is one of the reason why I choose this catwalk for my project. I like the way how the make-up looks clean and simple and the bright colors on the lids really stands out the eyes which makes the look more interesting and surprising. The make-up look links to the tribes make-up as the use of painted bright colors on the eyelids and the tribes inspired makeup also links to Missoni ideas on her garment designs. Hair:
From the interview with the hairstylist, Anthony Turner on above at the backstage of Missoni S/S 2016 Catwalk, he has explained his ideas of the hairstyles which he designed for Missoni. He has used the idea of the wig wrap hair (head wraps) method for this hairstyle to show a modern twist, chic but also a very elegant look for the style. He has first mixed the root moose and the full volume moose together and apply it onto the hair. This will help to hold the hair together and give the wet finish. After that, he comb back the hair to create a neat finish and then split the hair into two parts at the back. One half goes on the left and one half goes to the right. I like the idea of the head wraps hairstyle as it looks very unique and I like the way how Turner brings the idea of the method of wrapping the hair in applying the wig and turn it into a fashion look which shows a different twist in fashion and gives me the idea of being creative in different ways. For the earrings and the rings, it features a very graphic design on the ornaments which suits the designs on the garments which Missoni has designed. The bold and graphic lines and the zig-zag patterns combined with bold shape patterns on the rings and earrings match together very well. I like the idea of the scarf on the model's neck as it matches the patterns and the colors of the garments as well. References:
