Prime lens- The focal length of the prime lens is fixed which means it doesn't zoom in and out. It has got better quality photographs than a zoom lens.
Normal Camera lens for example, Canon 550D camera has got 18-55 mm lens which is a zoom lens. 18mm is the wide angle and 55mm is more zoomed. It refers to the distance between the camera's sensor and the point of convergence in the lens.
50mm lens, 60mm lens and 85mm lens - good for doing close up photographs
85mm lens can do the closest shots
60mm lens and 100mm lens are macro lens which means you can focus very closely.
Macro lens is good at doing close-up photos and it picks up the details of the face.

Tethered Photography allows us to shoot directly into Capture One which is a programme on the computer and allows us to save the pictures directly from the camera and you can shoot without a SD card. You can also see directly what the photo looks like on the computer after you have shoot an image which is good as sometimes you can see clearly if the image looks pixelated or not from the camera. You can adjust the setting on Capture One as well, for example changing the aperture, ISO, etc and even take photos with it.
Connecting to the computer: You need to use a fire wire or a USB cable to connect the camera and the computer.
Directions:
- Open the Capture One programme on the computer.
- Choose File - New Session...
- Then, in the menu, choose Tethered.
- Check the location of the session, where you going to save your photos. Create a folder and name it to put your photos in it.
- Connect the camera to the computer using a USB cable or a fire wire.
- Remember to click the camera logo on Capture One after you have checked all the setting.

Portrait photos:
The photos on below shows more shadows on one side and so we have made some changes.
In order to make the background color more even, we have placed two black poly boards facing to the black background (in side angles) and then placed one poly board on the side of the model where the shadows reflected on the face. This will help to take away the shadows on the face and also to make the background color look darker and smooth. We have also ask the model to stay a bit further from the background and we have moved the flash head further from the model as well.
The photos came out much better than before. Also, we have changed the aperture a bit higher and so the photos look brighter than the photos before.
